Imagine you arrived in a new country. You can’t speak the language, you don’t know where to find a doctor or a school for your children. You’ve left all that’s familiar behind and you feel nervous about going shopping alone.
Welcome Boxes helps people arriving in Derby settle in quickly and find the help they need. It provides an opportunity for the local community to show that Derby is a friendly and welcoming place to live. It breaks down fear and builds understanding between communities.
Upbeat Communities has a number of trained volunteers from a
variety of backgrounds and cultures that are vital in the delivery of our
projects*. We would not be able to do what we do without our fantastic
volunteers! We are always looking for more volunteers to help assist us with
the running and delivery of our projects.

interested in volunteering your time to an exciting and worthwhile project
